reNEW Music is a 501(c)3 organization based in Reno, Nevada.

Cultivating new music.

Many musical institutions chooze to prioritize the work of creators who were alive centuries before any of us were born. That is why you will never have trouble finding an orchestra that programs the work Beethoven or Mozart.

We aim to cultivate a different kind of experience for our audience, based around the music of living creators with a focus on artists who live, create, and have roots in the Reno-Tahoe area, regardless of the musical tradition or medium they operate in. This idea is central to our ethos as an organization.

Amplifying new voices.

As an active part of our musical ecosystem, we recognize that it is our responsibility to amplify the voices of artists who are actively creating music. The work of these artists reflect the world that we live in, represent the voices of our communities, and explore the untapped possibilities of our art form.

If we are to amplify new musical voices, we also must provide the opportunity for new creators to develop their craft and have their voice heard. We aim to do this both through our robust education programs and by connecting brand-new composers with the many ensembles and performers we work with.

Exploring new spaces.

If we limit our definition of a venue to concert halls and amphitheaters, we are missing out on so many amazing spaces to perform in. We believe that every space in which people gather—every library, bar, park, and living room—is a space where we can invite audiences to gather and share music. The venue itself defines our experience as much as the music itself or the people we are with.

We are excited to push the boundaries of what is considered a musical venue and to explore the possibilities that come with performing in those spaces.
